How to Live Like a Celebrity in Atlanta

With multiple professional sports teams, a growing film industry and a lively music scene, Atlanta is definitely a place to see and be seen. In fact, due to all this action, the city is now commonly referred to as “Hollywood of the South.”

For those who want a celebrity-type of lifestyle but aren’t partial to New York or LA, Atlanta is definitely the way to go. Ready to make your way to the A-list? Take note of how these ATL-based stars do it.

1. Find creative methods of shortening your commute to work.

When it’s taking you way too long to get to work, you don’t just leave your house earlier or try to take a different route. Those moves are for amateurs. A true celeb leases a second home closer to work. That’s what hip-hop star T.I. is doing with his $12,000 per month house in Buckhead, according to TMZ.

2. Wrap your piano in crocodile print.

If you’re a GRAMMY-award winning artist, you do what you can to keep the creative vibes flowing. Kandi Burruss’ Atlanta home is a prime of example of that. She uses vibrant colors and bold patterns throughout her home. Her piano, for example, is exquisitely wrapped in red crocodile print, as is the ceiling of the music room where it sits.

3. Sell your huge residence for $17.5 million, and upgrade to an even bigger one.

Sometimes you have a 34,688-square foot French Provincial-style home on 17 acres of land, but it feels like something is missing. Earlier this year, Tyler Perry sold his property for $17.5 million and bought a place with more space. He told E! News, “I know this sounds ridiculous, but I wanted more land so I bought more land outside of the city. It's the same distance to the studio as my old house, but now I can have horses and pigs and organic vegetables.”

4. Enjoy breakfast in your King-sized bed with the whole family.

Usher’s family showed us the right way to kick off Father’s Day this past June. To celebrate their dad, his two children presented him an elaborate breakfast in bed (check out that leopard-print headboard). They all sat in bed together—cute pup included—and enjoyed the morning.

5. Sit back and relax in your home movie theater.

If you’ve ever watched an episode of MTV “Cribs,” you know that movie theaters are a staple in celebrity homes. Shaquille O’Neal’s recent purchase of a 14-acre property just south of Atlanta comes equipped with a 12-seat theater. So, whether he’s watching his favorite show or old NBA highlight clips, you know Shaq is doing it in style.

6. Design an elegant “no-kids-allowed” living room.

Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak Biermann and former Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann have six kids. It goes without saying that six children can amount to a lot of chaos (especially when four of them are under the age of seven). Kim recently designed a gorgeous living room in her Atlanta mansion that she specifies is a child-free zone. Sometimes, providing designated areas for the kiddos is necessary to keep the house looking camera-ready.
